Awake Details the 15-Hour Craftsmanship Behind the Fragments Collection
Awake Watches has shared a detailed look into the artisanal craftsmanship behind its Fragments collection, highlighting the intricate process required to create each unique dial. Every piece in the collection undergoes nearly fifteen hours of manual labor, requiring a level of precision achieved only through a technique repeated thousands of times. The manufacturer emphasizes that each dial expresses its own personality through this specialized manual approach.
The creation process begins with a metal dial base that is coated in black lacquer with natural pigments and polished to a mirror finish. Mother-of-pearl fragments are then meticulously placed using tweezers, starting with smaller pieces for the background and transitioning to larger ones for texture and relief. Following this, blue, green, and pink organic pigments are sprayed on in a light veil to color the mother-of-pearl while maintaining its luminescence.
To finalize the dial, approximately twelve layers of pure lacquer are applied, with each layer being individually dried, sanded, and polished. This intensive sequence reveals a distinct shine and depth, sealing the fragments within what the brand describes as an invisible case. Additionally, Awake announced the launch of a new WhatsApp community, offering members exclusive previews and early access to upcoming developments.
