Geckota Founder Jon Quinn Details Brand History and Future Strategy
Geckota founder Jon Quinn shares the history of the brand, which officially launched in 2012 after several years of selling watch straps on eBay. The brand's first timepiece was the K1, a sterile-dial watch inspired by the German 'B Uhr' military design. Quinn notes that while the brand has produced approximately 20 different models in small batches since Its inception, the current strategy focuses on consolidating the collection.
The brand is currently focusing its efforts on its two most popular models, the Chronotimer and the Pioneer, by introducing new dial variants based on customer feedback. As a member of the Alliance of British Watchmakers, Geckota has opted to slow down the pace of new product releases to focus on small iterations of existing designs. Quinn also highlights his personal collection, which includes a second-hand Tudor Prince and a Rolex Explorer 114270, as influences on the brand's emphasis on understated design and wearability.
