Hemel Introduces the Eylandt Snelway Racing Watch
Hemel announces the release of the Snelway, a new racing-inspired watch under its Eylandt sub-brand. Designed by founder Marvin Menke, the timepiece features a high-energy dial with classic motorsport color combinations intended to balance nostalgia with a modern aesthetic. The name 'Snelway' pays homage to Long Island’s Dutch heritage, mirroring the sub-brand name Eylandt, while exploring a more expressive design language than the standard Hemel lineup.
The watch is built with a compact, puck-shaped case designed for broad wrist compatibility and comfort. Its aesthetic is heavily influenced by 1970s racing chronographs, featuring raised markers and a bold bezel to provide texture and presence. For reliability and ease of use, the Snelway is powered by the VH31 movement, which offers a smooth sweeping seconds hand to mimic the motion of a mechanical watch without the associated complexity.
As a 'grab-and-go' piece, the Snelway is positioned as an accessible and reliable addition to a collection. The design focuses on utility and clarity while maintaining a playful, spirited personality through its graphic elements. In addition to the new watch, the brand also highlighted a multi-tool EDC pen available in their online gift shop.
