Vaer has announced the release of the DS2 Meridian Gilt, a new 39mm dive watch limited to a production run of just 150 pieces. Following the popularity of the G2 Gilt edition, this new model brings a vintage-inspired aesthetic to the brand's slimmest dive watch chassis. The design draws inspiration from 1950s "skin diver" models, featuring a black sunray dial complemented by gold hands, markers, and bezel numerals. The DS2 Meridian Gilt is designed for wearability and practical utility, measuring a slim 10.4mm in thickness. It is engineered with 15 ATM water resistance and features a protective sapphire crystal. As with other models in this collection, the watch is USA-assembled and is marketed as the brand's most affordable diver option. Each watch comes with two quick-change straps to allow for versatile styling. According to co-founder Reagan Cook, the DS2 series was created to offer a streamlined alternative to modern oversized and heavy dive watches. By prioritizing comfort and a minimalist dial, the DS2 seeks to capture the balance of form and function seen in 1960s recreational diving watches. The limited run is expected to appeal to those who value the refined look of early professional dive watches in a more wearable, modern format.
