Wancher Announces Chawan Iro Urushi Watch Collection by Master Yoko Hirota
Wancher has announced the upcoming release of the Dream Watch Chawan Iro collection, a series of Urushi watches crafted by Master Yoko Hirota. Inspired by the aesthetic of Japanese tea bowls, the collection features dials created using the Ishime Tsuishitsu Nuri Kinma technique. This complex process involves a charcoal-infused Urushi base layered with colored pigments that are meticulously shaved back to reveal a three-color natural gradient.
Master Yoko Hirota describes these dials as her most difficult work to date, noting that achieving the specific color gradations without excessive thickness is a significant technical challenge. Due to the precision required, each handmade dial takes approximately 8 to 9 months to complete. The collection will be available in four distinct color variations: Ai (Blue), Matcha (Green), Kabocha (Orange/Pumpkin), and Momo (Pink/Peach).
The Chawan Iro collection is scheduled to officially launch on April 1st. Wancher is currently offering a $100 discount to customers who sign up for the waitlist prior to the launch date. Each color variation in the collection will be produced in a limited quantity, with the initial announcement specifying a selection of only five unique color variations.
