Applied indices just hit different when the light catches them, though a good sandwich dial on something like a Baltic adds such killer depth.

San Martin does some of the best applied indices for the money, but I still prefer a high-quality printed dial for that thin, skin diver aesthetic.

Definitely applied indices for me, unless it's a super clean, minimalist dial like some Nomos or Junghans have. They just add a level of depth and luxury that printed ones can't match, and the "sandwich" style, while cool on Panerai, feels a bit too chunky for most microbrands I follow like Lorier or Traska.

honestly nothing beats the clean look of the printed dials on some of those vintage-style lorier models, just feels right for a tool watch...

I'm a sucker for sandwich dials like you see on some of the Boldr field watches, just adds so much texture. Honestly though, well-done applied indices from a brand like Traska or Monta really elevate the whole piece and make it feel more premium.
