    Miyota 9039 vs Seiko NH35 — a real-world accuracy comparison

    Data
I've been tracking both movements daily for 6 months. NH35 averages +8 sec/day with 12 sec variation. The 9039 is at +3 sec/day with 5 sec variation. The 9039 also hacks and hand-winds smoother. For $20 more, it's the better choice.

The handwinding feel on the 9039 is so much smoother. NH35 feels gritty in comparison. It's the little things.

The handwinding thing is so true. The 9039 feels butter smooth, the NH35 feels like stirring gravel.

This is the comparison I've been wanting to see. 6 months of data is legit. The 9039 consistency is impressive.

Only downside to the 9039 is the day wheel is harder to find aftermarket parts for. But for a stock build? No brainer.

I've timed both extensively. My NH35 runs +8s/day, the 9039 runs +3s/day. Both are within spec but the Miyota has been more consistent over 6 months.

The 9039 has no date complication which is why it's thinner and arguably more reliable. If you don't need a date, it's the superior choice. NTH and Halios both use it for good reason.

NH35 wins on hackability and parts availability. If you're a modder, NH35 all day. If you're a brand building a no-date watch, 9039 is the smarter move.
