The Laco Frankfurt GMT Automatic is a stunning watch I hope to add to my collection one day, but otherwise I haven't put much thought into german watches.

Damasko takes the win for pure engineering value given the hardened cases and tech they pack in for the price. I went with a Sinn 556 for my collection but always felt like I paid more for the branding than the specs compared to what Damasko offers.

Oh, that's a tough one, they all do things so well! For pure, no-nonsense tool watch vibes, I’d lean slightly towards Damasko for their ice-hardened cases and unique tech. But Sinn’s understated robustness and iconic designs make them a very close second – the 556 is just perfection.

I'm going Sinn, they use submarine steel. Former submariner and current submarine historian here, so this is 100% a biased answer.
