Accessibility Statement
Last updated: February 12, 2026
Our Commitment
Indie Watches is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our marketplace inclusive and usable by all.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures We Take
-
Color Contrast
All text maintains a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against backgrounds. We test with automated tools and manual spot-checks.
-
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements — forms, filters, listings, modals, and navigation — are fully navigable via keyboard (Tab, Enter, Escape, Arrow keys).
-
Alternative Text
All meaningful images include descriptive alt text generated from listing data (brand, model, condition). Decorative images use empty alt attributes.
-
Mobile & Touch
Touch targets are at least 44×44 CSS pixels. All interactive components work with screen readers (VoiceOver, TalkBack).
-
Semantic HTML & ARIA
We use semantic HTML elements (header, main, nav, section, article) and ARIA labels where native semantics are insufficient.
Supported Assistive Technologies
Our site is tested with the following:
- Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Speech recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control
- Screen magnification tools
- Modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest 2 versions)
Third-Party Content
We integrate third-party services including Stripe for secure payment processing. Stripe's checkout is designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We monitor these integrations and work with vendors to ensure they maintain accessibility compliance.
User-uploaded images (listing photos, wrist shots) may not always have optimal alt text. We auto-generate descriptions from listing metadata (brand, model, condition) and encourage sellers to provide detailed descriptions.
Known Limitations
- Some third-party embedded content (e.g., external brand videos) may not be fully accessible.
- Complex data visualizations (price charts) include text alternatives but may have limited screen reader interactivity.
- Older user-uploaded content may lack descriptive alt text.
We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility over time.
Training & Awareness
Our development team receives regular training on accessibility best practices, including:
- WCAG 2.1 guidelines and success criteria
- Assistive technology testing workflows
- Inclusive design principles
- ARIA authoring practices
- Color contrast and typography accessibility

Compliance Status
We believe this website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform due to third-party content and ongoing improvements. We regularly audit our site using automated tools (Lighthouse, WAVE, axe) and manual testing to maintain and improve compliance.
